Veneers
Dental veneers are very thin pieces of durable ceramic tooth shaped shells that are custom made. They are placed over a damaged, misaligned, or stained tooth to conceal cosmetic issues and create a new appearance. Veneers are one of the most effective and aesthetically gratifying remedies for teeth that are chipped, have a gap, cracked, stained, misshaped, or even misaligned. Dental veneers are often used in smile makeovers to create beautiful smile transformations. There are several types of dental veneers, such as, Porcelain, composite resin, and zirconia veneers – each type has its own uniqueness. We love giving patients a smile makeover, it is a great feeling when patients tell us “I can’t quit smiling, now that I have the smile of my dreams!”
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions.
Reasons for porcelain veneers
- Cosmetic: To create a uniform, white, beautiful smile
- Misshapen teeth
- Teeth that are too large or too small
- Crooked teeth
- Severely discolored or stained teeth
- Gaps in teeth or uneven spaces
- Worn and chipped teeth
What does getting dental veneers involve? Getting veneers usually requires 2 visits to complete the process, with little or no anesthesia required during your procedure. Your teeth are prepared by lightly buffing & shaping the surface of the tooth to allow for the thickness of the veneer. An impression of your teeth is taken, and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and our dentist.
On the second visit, your teeth will be cleansed with special materials to achieve a durable bond. Bonding cement is then placed between the tooth and veneer. A special light beam is used to harden and set the bond. You will receive care instructions for veneers. Proper brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new veneers.
