Your first visit to our dental practice is all about you – your comfort, your happiness, and your oral health!
During your first visit, we will:
Review your dental and medical history forms
Take necessary radiographs of your teeth
Perform a comprehensive dental exam
Check your teeth and gums for any signs of decay and gingivitis or periodontitis
After your exam, the dentist will review your radiographs and findings with you. The dentist will discuss all treatment options and work with you to create a treatment plan that meets your needs.
New Patient Forms for Your First Visit
Prior to your first appointment, if we already have your email address- you can request us to email you a link to fill out your Health Form online OR you can simply arrive 10-15 minutes early for your first dental appointment to complete it in our office.
Our patient’s love our digital forms, since it makes updating your information in the future super easy & really quick! If you are taking any medications- please bring a med list or you can enter them in on the health form.

Brushing and Flossing
Brushing and flossing before the appointment will help our dentist properly examine your teeth with efficiency and ease. Need a brush and some paste before your appointment? Just let us know and we would be glad to get you one.
Comprehensive Dental Exam
After reviewing your health form, paying close attention to your dental and medical history, our dentist will proceed with your oral examination. Our dentist will carefully examine your teeth, gums and other oral tissues, looking for signs of decay, disease and other potential problems.
Radiographs (X-Rays)
The dentist will take necessary x-rays. We use digital x-rays at Clements Dental, so the process takes just a couple minutes to complete & the images are available immediately for our dentist to evaluate. These detailed images will show any problems, like deep cavities, infections and bone loss, that may not have been fully evident during the exam.
Dental Cleaning
Our dentist may recommend you get a professional teeth cleaning. During this cleaning session, our dental hygienist will remove accumulated plaque and stains from outside and in-between the teeth. After a thorough cleaning has been done, our dental hygienist will polish the teeth, leaving your mouth feeling fresh.
Post-Checkup Discussion
Following your exam, our dentist will discuss the results with you. If any issues were uncovered, our dentist may recommend additional treatments to restore your teeth and gums to a healthy condition. Our dentist will outline a treatment plan and our staff will review the procedure costs with you. If no problems were discovered, our dentist recommends patients return to our Shelbyville TN dental office every six months for another checkup and cleaning. This ensures any problems are detected as early as possible and more serious issues are prevented.

I broke a front lower tooth and I tried to push through the pain, but the electric shocks got a bit too much. Called Clements dental and they got me in that day and were so incredibly welcoming and nice while still being very professional. The tooth was extremely stubborn and I felt bad because staff had to stay late for me. They assured me that all is fine and that I was a priority. I honestly have never felt so comfortable at a dentist office!!! They are that good. I highly recommend!
